Buses for 5 colleges flagged off: Transportation a major component to promote hr edu in Nagaland, says H&TE Director

The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, on June 11 flagged off five college buses at a brief programme held at the Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima. These buses have been provided to Sao Chang College Tuensang, New Model College Mangkolemba, Zunheboto Govt College, New Model College Wakching and Peren Govt College.

The buses were flagged off by Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, Nagaland in the presence of the Directorate officials and the concerned college principals.

Pongen was optimistic that the concerned colleges will make the best use of such transportation facility. Nagaland’s Higher Education director Dr. A. Nshoga informed that five college buses has been procured through the initiative of Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education and Tourism and expressed gratitude to the latter for his concern towards the department’s goodwill mission.

Out of 19 college buses proposed to the government, the department received five this year, informed Nshoha who thanked the State government for making it possible.

“Transportation is one of the biggest challenges in the Higher education department and this is one of the major components to promote higher education in Nagaland,” said the Director.

Dr. Nshoga mentioned that almost all the colleges are located in the remote areas for which college buses are required. Sensing this kind of necessity, he said, the department has been trying its best to provide bus for colleges across the state.

Meanwhile, the Director was hopeful that the state government will look into the matter and cover the remaining colleges in phase wise manner.
