Café Hornbill was inaugurated on November 28 at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama under the Department of Land Resources, Nagaland.
During the inaugural, G.Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor for the Department of Land Resource mentioned that Café Hornbill which will be a reflection of Nagaland Coffee is going to be the Black Gold of the State in future.
Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of our Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, Zhimomi said, the State of Nagaland will one day be declared as the Land of Black Gold besides being the land of Festivals.
He thanked and appreciated the Chief Minister for enabling Hornbill Festival which has now become one of the most popular festivals not only in the State and National level but also Internationally recognized festival and has become the talk of the people today.
“Hornbill is not just an extravaganza cultural event but has also become the biggest industry in the state and the biggest employment avenues of the state besides various other benefits. And the people of the state should also ought to thank and appreciate the Government.and partake the benefits,” stated Zhimomi. The Advisor called upon more youths and youngsters of the state to enter into Coffee entrepreneurship from modernized farming to marketing level with seriousness.
Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister and IDAN Chairman in his speech mentioned that the project took 14 days to complete. “It is an achievement by itself. If we can do this in 14 days, then we can move mountains in the months and years ahead,” quipped Metha.

With the weather being cold during the festival and having noticed people coming for coffee, the idea to set up a cozy place to enjoy their coffee was initiated. Metha acknowledged the Chief Minister for pushing the brand Nagaland not only to the national level, but to the global platforms. He also informed that recently officers from the Land Resource Department visited Vietnam as part of the Northeast festival to explore the possibilities of partnerships expansion and collaborations. “Today Nagaland is pushing its brand through Nagaland coffee. And we aspire that it will be one of the ambassadors of Nagaland. These are good things about Nagaland which the world needs to know,” asserted Metha.
Expressing optimism that Nagaland coffee will be recognised globally, Metha hoped that the small space will give positive and meaningful outcome.
The program was earlier blessed with invocation by Pastor Zhawheto, CRC Phesama and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Albert Ngullie, Director, Department of Land Resource.
