Kohima: Neizütso Mekrisu releases fifth book in Tenyidie Language titled “Kedakelie Kelhou A Vie”

53rd Ura Academy Seminar under the theme ‘Mother tongue: the power of our thought’ commenced on Wednesday at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima. The program was graced by the Tenyimi People’s Organisation President, Timikha Koza and his colleagues.

In his speech, the TPO president who was also the guest speaker, asserted that through language comes unity. Koza encouraged the people to interact in the language of Mother tongue which is a good way of life. Expressing concern over the diminishing culture of honesty and truthfulness in the society, he called upon the Tenyimia community to revive and upkeep the age-old traditions.

During the inaugural program, the TPO president also released Neizütso Mekrisuh’s fifth book in Tenyidie Language, titled “Kedakelie Kelhou A Vie”.

Exhortation was given by Deo Nukhu, member of the board of directors, Ura Academy where he encouraged the people to speak in the mother-tongue at home because that is where the development of language begins. He also stated that the traditions and culture should be revived, such as skill-based activities, for sustenance and daily regular activities which we are losing. He also encouraged Ura Academy to introduce language courses and also organise annual seminars in other districts.

The program was chaired by Daso Paphino, vice president, Ura Academy, invocation was pronounced by Rev. Tsolie Chase, Pastor, Baptist Church Khonoma, while the welcome address was given by Vitshulieü Sekhose, Board of Director member, Ura Academy.

Special presentations were made by Union Baptist Church choir, Gospel singer Ato Nienu and Lidi Kro-u. The benediction was pronounced by Rev. Khrotso Mero, Board of Director member, Ura Academy.

The program was also attended by Vezuhu Keyho, President, Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), Satahi Shijoh, CPO Finance secretary, Vekhosayi Nyekha, President, Tenyimia Union Dimapur and Chonpa Jurry, President, Pochury Hoho.

On the second day of the seminar, an orientation program for Tenyidie teachers will be held from 9:30 am. The directorate of school education has directed all Tenyidie teachers to attend the program positively.

Ura Academy, the premiere body of Tenyidie language promotion, preservation and perpetuation, invites all well-wishers, Tenyimia people, leaders, organisations, church leaders to attend the program.
