Campaign for saturation of FI schemes and re-verification of KYC held at Viswema village

A one-day campaign for the saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes and re-verification of KYC at the Gram Panchayat and village level was launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, with effect from July 1 to September 30 and supported under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF), was successfully conducted at Viswema Village on August 19.

The program was organized by the State Bank of India (SBI), Kohima Branch, with a focus on spreading awareness about formal banking systems and key social security schemes such as PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, and PMJDY.

The event was chaired by SDO (Civil), Jakhama, Vineikho Tetso, where he delivered the welcome address, and emphasized the importance of financial literacy in rural communities to enable informed financial decisions and improve access to formal banking services.

Anthony K Nguori, Assistant Branch Manager, SBI Kohima, highlighted the objectives of the campaign, stating that it aims to educate participants about the fundamentals of banking, including account opening procedures, KYC compliance, and the importance of account nomination.

Temsumeren, Lead District Manager (LDM), LBO Kohima, conducted an informative session on government-sponsored Social Security Schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY); Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY); Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). He elaborated on the eligibility, benefits, and enrollment procedures for each scheme.

The presence of H Lalhlimpuia, Chief Manager, SLBC, and K. Samuel Liangousiam, Assistant General Manager, RBI, underscored the collective efforts of financial institutions in promoting financial inclusion at the grassroots level.

The camp witnessed active participation from local residents, who engaged with the resource persons and clarified their doubts related to banking, insurance, and social security services during the campaign program.
