Campaign kick off event of NDPP candidate Thenusou Sekhose Yhome held

The campaign kick off program of NDPP candidate Thenusou Sekhose Yhome of D.Block colony was held at D.Block, Panchayat hall on June 15.

Zhaleo Rio, IAS(Retd), Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department, in his speech, highlighted on the many deliberations taken to conduct ULB. Inspite of all the challenges, Nagaland is finally witnessing ULB elections after having so many meetings under the leadership of Our chief minister Neiphieu Rio, said the Legislator, this is the right time to show our gratitude to the government by voting for them.

Clarifying that NDPP is purely a regional party, with its party principle completely differing, Rio urged the people not to be confused of the party and their agendas. “We are resolute in resolving the Naga political issue. We stand for the Naga identity, protect Naga culture and tradition, protect Naga political rights, its rich culture and heritage,” affirmed the legislator.

On NDPP losing the recently held Lok Sabha election, Rio expressed belief that they lost because people are confused about their party. While accepting defeat, Rio hoped that people will not make more mistake in this ULB election. “But this is not a political defeat. I am not against anyone but I believe that it was a social media influence and the indulgence of churches. We only want to keep a good relation with the central government for the betterment of the state,” stated Rio.

With five candidates already winning unopposed, Rio said, the party is comfortable to win majority in the ULB. Therefore, he appealed the people to vote Yhome and added, “She has the party blessing. Voting her to power is empowering your ward.”

NDPP candidate D.Block ward .No 6 Thenusou Sekhose Yhome, in her speech shared her vision to work for community. “I have an aspiration and vision to make D block a model ward, improve safety of the people, work for Youth employment, skilling, education and entrepreneurship and independent life for youth and women,” said Yhome.

With many people sharing concerns for water supply, drainage, sanitation, Yhome said, she will remember their concern and will work for the betterment of the colony alongside with the people.

Kekhrienuo Mor, Women President NDPP,Kohima Region highlighted that this is a political empowerment for women. “There will no be real progress in development without women in the seat of political power. Women are not lacking behind In anything but when it comes to politics, we are under dependent because we are not given seat on the table with men,” said Mor, further appealing the need to support women for their security and safety.

“Women are neglected and it is about time we come out and talk about these issue and help women,” said Mor.

The program was earlier blessed with invocation by Videkho Mekro and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Vazhümo Solo. President, NDPP Kohima Region Prasielie Pienyii, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Neilaselie Kire, Ex-Councilor, D. Block also shar’d their thoughts during the event.
