Capacity Building for livelihood/exposure visit to Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre Dimapur & Farm Based visit to Icar-National Research Centre Medziphema.

On 03rd & 04th October 2024, a group of 34 Self Help Group members from Yanthanro, Makharung, Mmhayan, Thenhyayan & Ronren villages under Wokha Forest Division jurisdiction recently embarked on a capacity building and exposure visit to Nagaland Bamboo Resort CentreDimapur and Farm Based visit to ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), Medziphema, as part of Capacity building and exposure visit under Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland (FBMP) project.

The visit aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture practices, entrepreneurship, and community development. The initiative is supported by Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland (FBMP) project, co-financed by Federal Republic of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank) which focussed on the following key points:

  1. Exposure to innovative bamboo cultivation and processing techniques at Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur
  2. Hands-on training on entrepreneurship and business planning
  3. Interactive sessions with experts from ICAR, Medziphema on climate-resilient agriculture and value chain management
  4. Networking opportunities with fellow SHG members and stakeholders

The group were led and accompanied by  Elithung Odyuo, ACF, Wokha Forest Division, Abeno Ovung, Planning and Livelihood Expert, Wokha DMU, Renjano Odyuo, Finance cum Office Manager, FBMP – KfW, Wokha Forest Division and Ethel Odyuo, Team Leader, Natural Nagas FNGO.
