One Day Capacity Building Programme on MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme for the officers of Industries & Commerce Department was held at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima on 12th March 2025. The objective of the program was to create awareness and further disseminate about the importance of the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme.
The program was organized by the National Productivity Council, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India in association with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Nagaland.
The Director of Indus’ries & Commerce, P. Tokugha Sema in his opening remarks highlighted that the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Program is a component of the Government of India’s initiatives to support the MSME sector, which is a crucial supporter of India’s economic expansion and the main aim is “Minimizing Waste and Maximizing Values”. He said that through this programme we will see the improvement in productivity, reduced wastage and enhanced quality in manufacturing Industries. He requested the department officers to keenly participate and obtain knowledge about the Scheme as implementation will solely depend on them. He also expressed gratitude to the National Productivity Council for showing keen interest to skill the department officer by organizing the programme.

Regional Director Manoj Kumar Verma in his keynote address said MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme (MCLS) is an initiative of the Ministry of MSME to enhance the global competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by promoting Lean manufacturing techniques. The scheme is implemented through the National Productivity Council (NPC), providing technical support and training.
Deputy Director National Productivity Council Subhra Seal presented a PowerPoint on “LEAN Manufacturing Technique, detailed concept and Eligibility to avail benefits of the Scheme. He also said that to avail the benefits, enterprises have to be UDYAM registered MSMEs.
