The casting of postal ballots for essential workers for the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur, DIPR has informed. The process was overseen by EAC and the Nodal Officer for Postal Ballots, Litsenthung Kikon.
Kikon informed that out of 18 eligible essential voters, 15 casted their votes on the first day of the voting day.
The postal ballot voting is scheduled to continue till 10th April 2024, and will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Dimapur.
Meanwhile, the postal ballots for absentees in the district will commence on 9th April 2024 (Tuesday), Kikon informed DIPR.
A total of 179 Absentee Voters in the category of Senior citizens (AVSC) – 85 years and above, Absentee Voters belonging to PwD Category (AVPD) and Absentee Voters belonging to COVID 19 category (AVCO) will be catered to during this initiative which will continue on 10th April 2024 from 9:00 am onwards.
The EAC and Nodal Officer for Postal Ballots in Dimapur, Litsenthung Kikon also informed that to efficiently reach out to these voters, 9 (nine) teams have been formed to cover Dimapur I, II, and III simultaneously. These teams will be deployed to go door-to-door, ensuring that every eligible absentee voter will vote via the postal ballot without any inconvenience.
