The Assistant Chief Engineer, CAWD, Er. Sungtiba Amer held a briefing with the press on 24 January 2025 where he highlighted the activities of Civil Administration Works Division, Nagaland. He stated that CAWD is the executing agency overseeing all the construction works under the General Administration. In addition to this, CAWD also looks after the following Deposit work Departments such as Law & Justice Department, Border Affairs, Village Guard, Election Department, NSO & spill over works of Treasury & Accounts and CPMF(CRPF).
He highlighted that Nagaland has 17 District Headquarters including the latest Meluri district, 24 ADC Headquarters, 17 SDO (C) and 65 EAC Headquarters. The state has approximately 1588 functional and non-functional buildings under General Administration and all allied departments.
Er. Amer mentioned and lauded the Government of Nagaland especially the Chief Minister for giving utmost importance to the General Administration for giving the CAWD sufficient grants to construct and complete around 30 projects over a span of 4 years, such as the DC office Complex of Phek and Mokokchung and the following DC Bungalow at Tuensang, Phek, Wokha and Kiphire. Besides, a good number of ADC office Complexes, SDO(C) and EAC Office and Residences, GA Rest House including the Chief Secretary’s Residential Conference Hall at Kohima which were duly inaugurated.
In addition to this, he informed that the CAWD is currently constructing 14 nos. of Pre-Engineered Residential Structures for 13 EAC’s and 1 ADC Headquarters as a pilot project for various Administrative Headquarters where the works are in good progress. Currently, the CAWD is constructing DC office Complex at Zunheboto, Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Niuland and Tseminyu and DC Office Complex at Dimapur is on the pipeline where the project has already been sanctioned.
The DC Bungalow Mokokchung, ADC office complex Akuluto, GA Rest House Longleng, ADC Residence Chozuba are on the verge of completion and to be inaugurated within this current financial year, he added. A State-of-the-Art Circuit House, Chumoukedima is sanctioned where the work is to be taken up within the first week of February 2025, adjacent to the Sammogooting Stadium Chumoukedima. He thanked the government of Nagaland for giving CAWD the opportunity to construct the first ever stadium, as CAWD is involved mainly in constructing and maintaining functional and non-functional buildings of the General Administration.
He also pointed out that, outside the box of the General Administration, the CAWD has constructed and inaugurated the District Court at Wokha, Tuensang and Zunheboto, Judicial Officers Flat at Mon and Mokokchung. Village Guard Rest house at Thizama, the District Jail at Longleng and the Nagaland Olympic Association Office Complex at Kohima.
Currently the CAWD is constructing District Court at Mon and Noklak which is in good progress. Also, the CAWD is constructing the Flat Type Quarters for Law Officers at Kohima and Flat Type Officers and Staff Quarter for Border Affairs at Meriema which is nearing completion. The CAWD is also constructing the first ever Village Guard Commandant Office at Tuensang and Village Guard Training Centre at Sangphur, Shamator.
The CAWD has completed the EVM’s and VVPAT’s warehouse of Election Department at almost all the districts. The CAWD is also involved as an executing agency for constructing and maintaining all the semi- permanent and temporary structures of the CPMF (CRPF) centers all over the state.
In conclusion, Er. Amer stated that the purpose of sharing this statement to the media is to highlight that the government is giving dire importance for all-round development and working earnestly so as to provide basic infrastructure to the General Administration and all the allied Departments for effective implementation and all-round progress of the state.
