The Election Commission of India (ECI) led by the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, conducted a press conference today at de Oriental Grand Hotel in Kohima.
The panel highlighted various initiatives and programmes taken up by the Commission to conduct elections with the highest standard of transparency, accountability and credibility, stated a DIPR report.
The media personnel were also briefed on the steps and measures initiated by the Commission to promote clean and fair election.
The ECI also appealed to all the eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.
During the press conference, it was informed that there are 13,09,651 electors for the 60 Assembly Constituencies in Nagaland – 6,53,616 males and 6,56,035 females.
In addition, there are 6,970 PwD electors, 1,675 centenarian (100+) electors, and 30,049 first-time voters (18–19).
Other officials who attended the press conference included election commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel; Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar; and officials from the ECI and CEO Nagaland.
