Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel culminates at Longkhim

The culmination programme of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India was held on November 18 at DUDA Hall, Longkhim.

While speaking on the occasion, EAC Longkhim, S. Chingmei briefed about the initiative and contribution of Sadar Vallabhbhai and described him as a great leader of India. Chingmei said that one of his famous contribution and diplomacy was bringing 560 Princely states to join within the union of India, earning him the title ‘Iron Man of India” for his determination and uncompromising commitment to national integration.

She also stated that Sardar Patel believed that strength and faith were both essential for achieving great work. Later after India’s Independence, Patel became the First Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of free India, she added.

Marking the celebration, the following activities were carried out successfully: Cleanliness Drive, Padyatra Unity March, Essay writing competition, Debate and Poster making.

In the essay writing competitions:- Grace, from CKHS Angangba, Yanglithrong Sangtam from CKHS Angangba and Bijungla S Sangtam from CKHS Angangba were judged as the winners respectively. In the poster making: Silila from GVS, Changlemba I Chang from GVS and Sanglito from GVS were declared the winners respectively. In the debate competition: Thsajungla from GHSS, Avila from GHSS and Lumrito from GHSS secured 1st and runners-up respectively. All the winners were awarded a cash prize with citation.

Earlier, a short video clip about the initiatives and achievements of the Iron Man of Indian was screened. Cultural song was presented by DBs and GBs, invocation prayer was pronounce by Head DB, L. Chokhaba Sangtam and vote of thanks was delivered by EAC, S. Chingmei. The programme was attended by the Government officials, DBs, GBs, Students &Teachers and Chairmen of all ward & colonies.
