Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kohima has announced that it has launched the Center of Excellence Center of Excellence and Foundation Program in Mathematics, designed to empower women in the region. The institute has also informed that program is part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited.
JNV Kohima stated in its press release that the Center of Excellence is a specialized program that offers complimentary tutoring services to select female students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools in preparation for engineering and medical entrance examinations. The program aims to enhance the students’ chances of gaining admission to India’s leading engineering and medical institutions through competitive entrance exams.
The launch event was graced by Aditya Prakash Singh, Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong, who joined virtually. TVS Prakasa Rao, Assistant Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office Shillong, was the Chief Guest, while Devang Pandya, Deputy Vice President of CSR and Ethics at TATA AIG, was the Guest of Honor at the event.
Additionally, the Chairman of P Khel, Kohima Village also attended the launch along with other esteemed guests from Kohima. All school principals across JNV Nagaland joined online.
During the event, the significant contributions of the Center of Excellence’s to students’ lives and its positive impact on the JNV community over the past few years were emphasized. The advantages of high-quality instruction in grades 11 and 12, as well as the availability of scholarships for students who are accepted into top medical and engineering colleges, were also discussed.
JNV Kohima stated that the mathematics enrichment foundation program is designed to provide young women with the essential skills and knowledge they need to excel in their academic pursuits, particularly in engineering and medicine. The program focuses on developing foundational concepts and fostering a love of learning mathematics, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to succeed in their chosen fields.
