Joining the nationwide celebration that promotes nutrition awareness and drives action towards building a healthier India, an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Poshan Maah was organised by Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Kohima today at Kendriya Vidyalaya School Kohima.
In her key note address, Sohile Tep, Poshan District Coordinator Kohima, Department of Social Welfare, dwelled on the critical themes of anaemia prevention and growth monitoring among Children and Adolescent. She said adolescence is a period of rapid growth, so proper nutrition is crucial for achieving full growth potential. While pointing out that nutrient needs are greater during adolescence than any other time in the lifecycle of a man, Tep said an adolescent needs more nutrients than adults. Failure to consume an adequate diet during this time can result in growth retardation, delayed physical development and growth, she added.

She also highlighted on enhancing awareness about nutrition, improving dietary practices and combating malnutrition. The programme was chaired by Teacher-in Charge Charu Sarathe while Bambino delivered the welcome address.
An Essay writing competition and painting competition on the theme of Poshan Maah were also conducted in the run-up to the programme. Aroba Jamir bagged the first price In the essay writing competition, Lianmuanlal secured second while Chhovoni Lajemei bagged the third prize. In the painting competition, Aditya Yadav won the first price Suhani second and Vhirat Pradhan secured third.
