A meeting with political parties with regard to expenditure monitoring measure was held today at the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, office chamber in Kohima.

CEO V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, called on the political parties to follow the procedures and guidelines of the ECI, stated a report by Media Cell CEO.

Shekhar also directed them to maintain proper records and submit their daily expenditure reports to the Election Expenditure Monitoring Nodal Officer under DEOs on time.

The CEO also apprised the representatives of political parties to adhere to the ceiling limit of Rs 28 lakh expenditure for each candidate.

The General Observers, Central and State agency will be monitoring their expenditure, he informed and therefore, urged all the political parties to take the matter seriously.

In the meeting, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Nodal Officer, CEO Office, Hiazu Meru, informed all the parties to submit the name list of star campaigners before the day of filing nominations.

The CEO also appealed to the political parties to step forward to curb fake news in social media and to report to their respective DEOs or dial Toll-free no 1950 in case of any complaints.
