The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland with the CEO, Joint CEO and Assistant CEO held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties in the State on 20th October 2023 in connection with Special Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls with regard to 01.01.2024 as qualifying date.
CEO Vyasan R, IAS informed in a press release informed that during the meeting, the CEO’s team highlighted the legal provisions of revision exercise and briefly explained the schedule of the ongoing special summary revision.
The political parties were encouraged to appoint their Booth Level Agent (BLA) to assist the electoral machinery in bringing out an authentic and error-free photo electoral roll for smooth conduct of elections. The party representatives were provided with copies of relevant forms and the Election Commission’s instructions relevant to the revision process.
The CEO informed that with the announcement of the schedule for bye-election in 43-Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency on 13th October 2023, the Model Code of Conduct became operational in entire Mon district. Political parties were informed that Committees at the State-level under the CEO as well as district-level under the District Election Officer/Returning Officer are in place to oversee the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
He called upon all political parties to extend co-operation in the successful conduct of the Special Summary Revision, 2024 exercise and the bye-election to the 43-Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency.
