Chairman of National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, M Venkatesan visited Peren District on 16th December 2023 where he held a meeting with Peren district officials at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Peren, DIPR said.

Deputy Commissioner Peren, Vineet Kumar, IAS in his keynote address said that Safai Karamcharis is a person engaged for any sanitation work and it includes their dependents. He said that the Mission of Safai Karamcharis is to strive for elimination of inhumane practice of manual scavenging and social economic upliftment of Safai Karamcharis and their dependent sanitation workers.

The DC also informed that the wages of the employees are adjusted from the town council revenue on fixed pay basis and the workers are issued items such as hand gloves, masks and jacket for their safety in their workplace.
