Chairpersons of Peren, Jalukie and Tening town councils elected, members take oath of affirmation

Peren: DC encourages elected members to work sincerely for development of their respective Wards

Newly elected members of Peren, Jalukie and Tening Town Councils took an oath of affirmation at a ceremony held at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on 5th July 2024, DIPR informed.

The election of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson was conducted as per Section 12 (3) and 23 of the Municipal Act, 2023. Mireulung Sephe (NDPP) was elected as Chairperson and Hunganbo (NDPP) as Deputy Chairperson of Peren Town Council. Hadi (NDPP) was elected as Chairperson and Tingba Hegui (NDPP) as Deputy Chairperson of Jalukie Town Council. Lungchui (NDPP) was Chairperson and Pauzin Rentta (Independent) as Deputy Chairperson of Tening Town Council.

The following members were elected for the post of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson from their respective Towns whose names will be forwarded to the Government for getting necessary approval.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, IAS, who administered the oath of affirmation to the elected members in accordance with the Section 60A of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023 in his address congratulated the town councillors on behalf of District Administration and described the occasion as historic as the ULB Election was held successfully after a gap of 20 years with 33% reservation for women for the first time. Further, he encouraged the elected members to work sincerely for the development of their respective Wards in particular and Peren district at large.
