Chakhesang Clean Election Movement seeks God’s blessings for candidates from community

Pfütsero: The candidates committed themselves to abide by the NBCC’s Clean Election Guidelines

The Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) sought God’s blessing for candidates from the Chakhesang community at a Joint Prayer Fellowship held at The Pioneers’ Complex, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), T.Chikri, Pfütsero on Thursday.

A press release from CCEM stated they has also prayed for “God to raise His choice of leadership.”

15 candidates, including Chotisüh Sazo, K.G.Kenye, Kezhienyi Khalo, Kezholuzo Nienu, Zachilhu Ringa Vadeo and Neiba Kronu, attended the programme along with their party functionaries. 2 candidates could not make it, CCEM said.

Rev. Vezopa Rhakho, Chairman, Chakhesang Clean Election Movement, who presided over the programme, shared that leaders who are elected through clean, fair and just means are honorable in the sight of God and man, and urged the leaders to be loyal to the people and to be defenders of the faith. Rev. Rhakho also apprised the gathering of the CCEM activities.

Rev. David Koza, Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Christian Revival Church Council (CCRCC), read a passage from the Bible and prayed for the programme.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, President, CBCC. He reminded the leaders: “Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart; therefore, may the pure in heart win. At the end of the election, remember you are not going to be enemies but friends and counterparts in shaping our society.”

Vezühü Keyho, President, CPO spoke on behalf of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), and urged the candidates to play a friendly match without criticizing each other, and also for the candidates to respect the decisions of the apex body and extend their full cooperation for the good cause of our community, and to uphold the clean election principles. He further quoted John F. Kennedy’s words, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

Rev. Dr. Chekroveyi Cho-o, Executive Secretary, CBCC while sharing from the Word of God, stated, “If we lose our identity and integrity as Christians, our professions without Christ will only lead us to sin more! Therefore, we must abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ and take our professions as our callings. Then only we can make a difference.”

At the programme, each party representative was given time to speak on behalf of their party.

Leaders of various church denominations prayed the Prayer of Blessings over the candidates, and the Benediction was pronounced by Rev. Khrotso Mero, Former Executive Secretary of the CBCC.

The candidates appreciated the initiative of the CCEM in organizing the Joint Prayer Fellowship and committed themselves to abide by the NBCC’s Clean Election Guidelines. They also encouraged the CCEM with the hope that as the movement gains momentum, it will bring about the desired change in the society, CCEM stated.
