The Chapel Hall of Nagaland Legislators was dedicated and the plaque was unveiled by General Secretary NBCC Rev Zelhou Keyho on 11 December at Assembly Secretariat Kohima.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in his speech thanked God for the very special and memorable day and said it was a long-felt need to have a permanent worship place for the Nagaland Legislators Christian Fellowship (NLCF).

He also said it was due to support and cooperation of all the legislators in making this come true.

He extended his gratitude to all the parties involved and that the convention Centre cum Chapel Hall was the result of the opposition-less government coming together in unity.

While highlighting the details of the construction work, the Chief Minister said the site selection was done on 21 October 2021 and the construction works started on 1 November 2021.

The Chapel Hall was completed in 13 months and 10 days.

While thanking all those involved in making this possible, Rio said the present society was divided and the only platform to come together was through religion and as Christians, he urged everyone to forgive one another and unite to work for peace in our land.

Delivering Christmas greetings to the gathering, Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton urged everyone to celebrate in a true Christian spirit by spreading the message of love, joy, and peace even to non-Christians.

Patton urged every section of the society irrespective of political affiliations and organisations to keep aside their differences and focus on bringing long-lasting peace and harmony to the land.

Patton also said the government of today is committed and has been working hard to bring early solution to the Indo-Naga Political issue as a facilitator.

Sharing the Christmas message, Rev Catherine Longkumer said the advent of Christmas taught us how to walk faithfully throughout our life and the time of preparation for the arrival of Christ who would bring joy, love, and peace.

Adding that celebrating Christmas would mean nothing without knowing and realizing Christ’s life, death and His resurrection, she exhorted the gathering that real joy comes from the heart that is connected with God which is much deeper and richer through the spirit.

Special songs were presented by the Legislators Band, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima and Nagaland Civil Service Band.

Christmas greetings were also shared by J Alam, Chief Secretary Nagaland, and Sharingain Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The Scripture was read by Dr Meribeni Odyuo and benediction was pronounced by Zelhou Keyho General Secretary, NBCC.
