Cheerful Teachers’ Day celebration at Noklak despite challenging rain

The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) in collaboration with the District Administration and School Education, Noklak organised Teachers’ Day celebration today at Public Ground, Noklak under theme “Empowering education for a sustainable future”.

At the programme, the KSU introduced the Most Promising School Award, recognizing: Government Primary School Primary School, Kingpao, established in 2010; and Government High School, Peshu, founded in 1963 and progressively upgraded to GMS in 2010 and to GHS in 2016.

SDEO in-charge Noklak, Y, Khongkhao acknowledged and congratulated the two state Teachers’ Awardees: KV Joseph, Senior Teacher, Holy Angels School, Noklak and T. Chiye, PT GMS, Sanglao. He also presented the District Level Teachers Award to B. Ruth, Post Graduate Teacher, Government Higher Secondary School, Noklak and P. Shingnya of GPS Noklak.

Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba, in his address, acknowledged the teachers for being the “nurturer of the society and cradle of professions”. Adding that the success of a nation depends on the value given to the teaching professions, he urged all to honour teachers. He stated that the role of a teacher is both critical and adventurous and encouraged he encouraged the teachers to recognise their role in the society and to inspire and the students.

The DC extended his appreciation to the KSU for organising the programme.

 

President of Eastern Nagaland Students Federation, Chingmak Chang, in his speech appreciated teachers for working tirelessly for the upliftment of the students. He requested the teachers to be true to their profession and mould the students regardless of their background.

The celebration concluded on a cheerful note despite the unexpected heavy rain that challenged the setting of the event, which also supports the point that Noklak genuinely needs an auditorium.

Earlier, the program was chaired by Shingnya and Shongmo, Welcome addressed was delivered by Khiamniungan Students Union, President, Shangjiu while vote of thanks was delivered by Education Secretary, KSU, Ningpao.

Teachers and students from various schools from both private and government under Noklak District attended the programme.
