Around 20 people were, on Wednesday evening, stranded between Chiephobozou and Chiechama Village under Kohima district after the Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus they were travelling in broke down. The vehicle was heading to Wokha from Dimapur when at around 6:00 pm, it faced issues and had to be parked by the shoulder of the road, leaving the occupants stuck in the darkness on a cold night.

Talking with Nagaland Tribune, Kashili Ayemi, a passenger, informed that she was returning to Wokha with her mother after receiving medical treatment from Dimapur when they had to deboard the bus. At that desperate moment, “the Chiechama Youth Organisation arrived as ‘good Samaritans’ and helped us when we were freezing in the cold”, Ayemi said.

The youth brought firewood so that the passengers can keep warm and even prepared and served tea and biscuits to all of us, which was very kind of them, she gratefully said.

Ayemi also informed that a couple of hours later, a Tuensang bound bus came by and around half of the stranded passengers including herself and her mother boarded the bus towards their destination. The rest of the passengers remained with the broken-down bus unable to find a mechanic. They might have to wait till morning, she said but displayed relieve that the youths from Chiechama were giving company to the other fellow travellers.

Ayemi expressed her appreciation to the Chiechama Youth Organisation and thanked them for their kind gesture.
