The Department of Public Works Department (PWD) – National Highways took a proactive step towards assessing the progress and quality of ongoing major road projects in Nagaland through a comprehensive site inspection tour. Led by Chief Engineer Er. I. Tiameren, the inspection focused on key sections of NH 02 and NH 702D, vital components of Nagaland’s road network.

Chief Engineer Er. I. Tiameren highlighted the significance of this tour, which marked his inaugural inspection since assuming office. Beginning the journey from Kohima, the team aimed to comprehensively evaluate the condition of National Highways across the state, strategically choosing the monsoon season for a precise assessment of rain-induced impacts.

Starting from the zero point, the inspection spanned from kilometer 185 to 220, encompassing several project sites. Among them, a completed project was under review, with plans for rectification if required. Chief Engineer Er. I. Tiameren underscored the importance of immediate corrective actions and issuing further directives as necessary.

During the inspection, the team visited the JKM lab, meticulously verifying the proper installation of tools and equipment. On-site testing at the lab added an extra layer of assurance, ensuring the ongoing projects’ quality and precision.

Looking ahead, the tour’s focus will shift to NH 702D, a lifeline road connecting Mokokchung to Mariani and serving multiple districts. Chief Engineer Er. I. Tiameren revealed that survey works for this road are set to commence soon, overseen by the Project Management Consultancy (PMC). With the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways having issued an offering letter to the PMC, the department’s dedication to expediting project progress is evident.

In collaboration with the consultancy, the Department of PWD – National Highways is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the prompt and effective execution of projects crucial to the state’s infrastructure development.
