Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that he was deeply pained to hear of the demise of Rongsenshilu Jamir, IPS (Retd.), the first Naga Inspector General of Police, in Dimapur on 16 January 2025.
Rio described late Jamir as a man of principle, who lived a sincere and upright life, and was known for being a kind and compassionate person. The CM mentioned that late Jamir was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and was inducted into the Indian Police Service.
“In his demise, not only the Ao community but Nagas as a whole have lost a guardian, and a father figure,” the CM stated in his condolence message.
Rio also stated that the sacrifices made by late Rongsenshilu Jamir, IPS (Retd.), for the welfare of society and his contributions to the State will always be remembered.
The CM also conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for courage and solace to bear the irreparable loss.
