Child Rights Week concludes in Mokokchung

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Mokokchung recently concluded the Child Rights Week, observed from November 14 to 20 with a series of events aimed focused on child rights and protection. The week-long celebration was themed “Every Child Matters – Every Right Counts.” November is also Adoption month. so, awareness on Adoption were also conducted  simultaneously.

The Week-long Child Rights campaign was focused on Institutional Care, Church and the Community. DCPU MOKOKCHUNG, under the supervision and leadership of its District Child Protection Officer, Shri Samuel Kapu, visited Care & Support Children Home under Institutional Care,

On November 14, commemorating it with Children’s Day, DCPU Mokokchung visited the Care & Support Children Home in Tsümarshiong, Chungtia, where a painting competition was held for children across different categories. Ajay Moktan, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung District, graced the occasion and ended the day with a feast.

On November 16, DCPU conducted awareness programme at Chungtia Baptist Church and Sabangya Baptist Church with T Asola Imsong, Protection Officer NIC, DCPU, Mokokchung and Imnatola District Supervisor DCPU-Child helpline as the Resource persons. The Resource persons emphasised on Legal Adoption, child rights and other services provided by Child helpline.

A one-day sensitization and awareness program on child protection and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was held at the Community Hall, Chungtiayimsen, on November 19. The program featured resource persons T Asula Imsong, Protection Officer, NIC, DCPU, and Takotila Jamir, District Supervisor, DCPU-Child Helpline. The prorgramme was conducted focusing on the community and the migrant workers in Bricks Kiln / manufacturing unit in Chungtiayimsen for Mangkolemba Block.

The week-long Child Rights Week concluded with a radio conversation with T Asula Imsong Protection Officer NIC DCPU,  Imnatola District Supervisor Child helpline and Takotila Jamir, Supervisor, Child Helpline, discussing child rights and protection

The events aimed to raise awareness about child rights and protection, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The programs also highlighted the role of individuals and communities in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
