During the one-to-one interactive session with the officers in-charge of different departments under the Kiphire SP office, the students curiously asked questions about how the different departments under police station function, operate and play a role in maintaining peace and harmony in the district.

The response of the police department in Kiphire was very encouraging as they were equally excited to clear the doubts of the young students.

One student said, “At first it was uneasy to approach the police personnel but later we realised that they are our protectors. I’m happy to have interacted with them, I learned a lot of new things today because of this visit.”

Vekhenshe K Genevive, the training associate for Children’s Parliament Initiative under the Development Association of Nagaland stated, “Most people picture police stations with only a jail inside it but today I am sure our students have learned some important inside stories of how a police station functions under different wings and departments.”

These small expeditions to different important offices organised by Children’s Parliament Initiative boost the confidence of the students. They gain knowledge of important spheres from the visits which eventually prepare the children for practicality in future, she added.
