The District Administration, Chumoukedima has urged all individuals, Village Councils, and stakeholders to refrain from undertaking any quarrying, earth cutting, setting up temporary vendor fruits & vegetable stalls or similar activities near National Highway 29 including lands within the right of way (RoW).
In a notice the public, the Deputy Commissioner, Pholan John, NCS highlighted that such activities “pose a significant risk to the structural integrity of the highway and endanger public safety by increasing the likelihood of soil erosion, landslides, highway blockade, encroachments, subsidence and fatal highway accidents.”
The DC has appealed for full cooperation in maintaining the durability of NH-29 and safety of all concerned and said that DC Office, Chumoukedima may be contacted for any further information or clarification.
Further, the DC stated that any activity found to be detrimental to the safety and integrity of NH-29 may invite necessary legal action as per applicable laws and regulations.
