He remarked, “Teaching as the means to reach the disciples of Jesus are continually transformed”. He encouraged those present to transform oneself in the word of God before one proclaims the message to others through the commitment of purposeful teachings.

One needs to be humble and submissive to God and as a believer allow the holy spirit to enter into one’s life for the transformation to take place through God’s intervention and witness the amazing work of our Lord saviour, he added.

He reminded the gathering to remember God’s faithfulness and his amazing transformation taking place in one’s life and encouraged to work continually for our Almighty God.

Taneti reminded the gathering the meaning of Jubilee in the bible as “retelling, recalling stories of the past, at the same time looking forward”. Jubilee is a “season of reimagining, a season of dreaming as no celebration is complete without dreaming of possibilities for the future” he added.

“Together we learn and grow, through this celebration, collaborations and dreaming together for tomorrow, may we glorify his name,” he said.

Jamir in his greetings as an alumni of CTC expressed that this is an institution with a deep commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence in theological education and preparation of commit people for leadership roles in different churches and ministries.

He remarked that the ” Jubilee celebration is not only about retrospection but also an approaching moment for serious retrospection and self-analysis for the future”. He also went on to say that the teaching community should not be left behind with ever evolving techniques in education

Jamir added that inspiring teachers to guide and ignite the minds of the students to leadership roles is the need of the hour.

Rangro Herie, while delivering his greetings stated that the CTC should continue to maintain academic excellence by imparting biblical value based, contextual and holistic quality education and providing practical and purposeful theology with ethical, moral and spiritual values.

Noklen Longkumer, called upon the people that in order to continue God’s mission, we need to pick up courage aligning ourselves with honesty and accept God’s transformation in our lives.

The churches today face challenges to compromise with the standards of the world as seen today the Church is influenced by the society rather than society affected by the church, he pointed out.

Sümedem: Journal of Communication and cultural studies was launched by Shimreingam Shimray, Principal of Eastern Theological College. The journal derives its name from ‘Sümedem’, a significant public space in Ao Naga villages. It is a place where villagers gather – a public platform, a centre for discourse and dispute resolution. It is also a space for contemplation and retrospection. Sümedem today symbolizes indigenous people coming together as one. It also signifies public affair where each member of the community is respected, valued and counted as equals in our rights as well as in our freedoms.
