With the upcoming World Wetland day to be observed on February 2, and awareness event on cleanliness was held at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Doyang Hydro project, Wokha on January 31. The awareness program was organised by the Doyang Plantation Division, and Wokha Forest Division in collaboration with Eco-warriors Nagaland.
The World Wetland day is celebrated every year on February 2 to reaffirm the protection for wetlands.
During the awareness campaign, Rhontsutung L Odyuo from the Eco Warriors guided students in a cleanliness drive and conducted a Plastic Audit. Highlighting the significance of proper waste management, Odyuo stressed on the hazards of plastic to the ecosystem, contributing significantly to environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Meanwhile Team Member Akhrieno Khamo spoke on the importance of Wetland Day and its ecosystems.

With an objective to provide a creative platform for students to express their understanding of the connection between wetlands and human life, a drawing competition was held on three category classes with Class 3 -5 participating on the theme ‘Wetland and Human Wellbeing’ and Class 6 -7 and Class 8 -9 participated on the theme ‘Wetland Ecosystem’.
The awareness on cleanliness witnessed the participation of 176 students, teachers and well wishers.
