The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has presented a memorandum to the Governor of Nagaland La. Ganesan calling for his immediate intervention in the murder case of late Supou P.

The union stated its condemnation of the ‘heinous act committed’ by Thengio Khiam, SS Deputy Kilonser of NSCN-Khango Group in Dimapur on the night of 8 May 2023. It said that the killing of the ‘helpless innocent student’ who was pursuing her MA in History has ‘greatly hurt the sentiments of the Khiamniungan community at large and the student’s community in particular, and creates insecurity in the hearts of the general public.’

KSU stated that the murder of lt. Supou is ‘a clear sign of failure on the ground of law and order in the state, to have goons with sophisticated weapons in the public domain.’

The students’ body presented three demands before the Governor that included, a befitting punishment be given to the criminal(s) involved as per the provision of the law; the criminals should not be bailed out/released under any circumstances and that the law enforcing agencies to be vigilant; the Judiciary must FastTrack the case and deliver justice to the victim’s family and the student community at the earliest.

On Wednesday evening, KSU had organised a Candle Light Service to honour of lt. Supou.
