Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio interacted with footballers training for the first edition of the Nagaland Super league during his visit to the Chümoukedima Football Stadium on 13 January 2025. The stadium at Chümoukedima is one of the venues for the league.
In a post on X platform, the CM said that he was looking forward to the 1st professional league in Nagaland.
Rio was accompanied by Abu Metha, Adviser to CM and Vice President of Athletics Federation of India, officials of the Sports Department, the Nagaland Football Association and local community representatives.

The Nagaland Super League is scheduled to take place from 28 January to 31 March 2025. The official launch date, 28 January, coincides with the 107th birth anniversary of Olympian Dr T Ao. The total prize pool of the league is rupees one crore.
