Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today appealed to all the Naga political groups and stakeholders to be sensitive to the deep yearning of the people and continue with their sincere efforts to ensure that the solution is reached without any further delay.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said this while delivering his concluding remarks on matters of urgent public importance pertaining to “Naga Political issue”, on the last day of the fifth session of the fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Mentioning that Nagas are longing for genuine peace, Rio said that a political solution that is inclusive, honourable and acceptable to the Naga people will usher in an era for greater employment opportunities for the youths and all round development and progress to our people.

He, however, said that after the Joint Legislative Forum, was formed in 2009, the Forum has made significant steps towards achieving the objective of a peaceful solution to the Naga protracted issue.
“Even this ceasefire and dialogue has taken some positive steps because we have seen the signing of Framework Agreement on 3 August 2015, with NSCN-IM and the Agreed position with NNPG on 17 November 2017, which has raised hope of a lasting peace in our state,” he added.
He also said the house have already passed six resolutions on Naga issue and five resolution outside the house and stated that the elected members are the voice of the people, as they have the mandate of the people.
He also urged the Naga groups to come together on the negotiating table and discuss the issue in order to take a decision which is inclusive, honourable and acceptable.
Raising serious concerns on multiple taxation, Rio said that due to taxation in the name of the ongoing Naga political issue, the businesses community particularly the non-locals, government servants and farmers have been confronting difficulties. At this present scenario, no investors from outside the State will come to the State for investment, he added.
Further, the leader of the house said that the elected members of NLA would first have a consultation with the Naga National Groups before meeting the Civil Society Organisation’s, the apex tribal hohos and concerned leaders. Rio also urged the Naga groups to listen to the voice of the people, if they are mandated by the people.
