CM Rio, Dy CMs, NDPP congratulate Supongmeren Jamir on winning Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha seat

Kohima: People of Nagaland have ensured that democracy has once again emerged victorious: NDPP

As Indian National Congress’ S Supongmeren Jamir sent shockwaves across Nagaland on Tuesday by winning the lone Lok Sabha seat, the result has been accepted with dignity by the ruling NDPP-BJP alliance led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio despite being on the losing side.

CM Rio congratulated Jamir in a post on X and stated acknowledged that the people of the State have chosen him to represent them. He wished Jamir the best in carrying out his responsibilities.

Deputy Chief Minister T R Zeliang too congratulated Supongmeren on his victory and hoped that “this new innings in your career be a blessing to the people of the State.”

Wishing you the very best and successful tenure as you represent the voice of the people of Nagaland in Parliament, Zeliang added.

Congratulating Jamir, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton wished him “the best in his mission to serve the people of the state and the nation.”

Meanwhile, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) too welcomed the mandate of the people of Nagaland and stated that for a democracy to be strong, vibrant and successful, the peoples’ will to participate in the democratic process of electing leaders of their choice is paramount, and the people of Nagaland have ensured that democracy has once again emerged victorious.

While congratulating Supongmeren Jamir for his victory, the Party wished him the best and stated that “it is also expected that as the lone representative of the Naga people, he will take forward the aspirations and voice of the people in the Parliament.”

The NDPP also congratulated and commended Dr Chumben Murry for having bravely fought the elections. “His dexterity and determination should be taken as an example by the rank and file of the NDPP as we revamp and reflect on the recent results of the elections,” it stated. The ruling party affirmed that it is committed to its promises to the people of Nagaland and urged the party members “to remain positive and steadfast as we reflect and look back at the Lok Sabha elections and try to rectify and strengthen those areas where our weakness lie.”
