Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the Log Drum Pulling Ceremony of Longwa Chief Angh’s (King) Tonyei Phawang’s residence today at Mon district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio asserted that the Union Government decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border will help in stopping the movement of underground factions and it will also stop transportation of illegal drugs across the border adding that this will help in improving situation in future.
Rio also opposed the Central Government’s decision to scrap Free Movement Regime (FMR) and said he will bring up the issue to cabinet and discuss.
He also emphasized on the need to have identity card for movement across Indo-Myanmar Border.
CM Rio remarked that the event was historic, where Chief Anghs from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar also graced the ceremony. “Such an occasion, which celebrates our historical practices, indeed, transcends man-made boundaries,” the Chief Minister tweeted in X.

The program was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, NDPP President Chingwang Konyak, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Paiwang Konyak and Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change and Village Guards CL John.
The Special Invitees on the occasion at Longwa village were Chief Angh, Tangnyu; Chief Angh, Konnu (Arunachal Pradesh); Chief Angh, Longzang; Chief Angh, Sheanghah Chingnyu, Chief Angh, Kamkah (Myanmar); Chief Angh, Pongchau (Arunachal Pradesh).
