CM Rio-led Nagaland delegation in Japan to strengthen collaborations

A delegation from Nagaland led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is currently in Japan to strengthen and enhance Nagaland’s collaborations with Japan.

On Monday morning, Rio took to X (formerly Twitter) appreciating the warm reception at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo led by Ambassador of India to Japan Sibi George for facilitating the visit and in strengthening India-Japan ties. Rio expressed that his team is looking forward to meetings with government officials, business leaders, development agencies, and NGOs to deepen ties.

“The visit is aimed at enhancing our collaborations with Japan, creating opportunities for our youth and initiating developmental partnerships, apart from strengthening 1.5 diplomacy and increasing people-to-people contact,” Rio posted.

Throughout the day, Rio’s team held a string of meetings with different groups. The Indian Embassy, in its official X handle, updated that CM Rio and his delegation met representatives of M/s Konnect Asia and discussed on future collaboration.

The Famous Animation Artist Toshiyuki Honda who created Doremon presented the CM with his art work and discussed on prospects of future collaboration. He was joined by CEO of Eclat Animal Ms Toyonaga Hitomi. Erie Watanabe and Taeaki Tanaka of M/s AXON proposed for deeper collaboration with India on Global Animation Project.

Rio and his delegation also met the representatives of the Japan-India Friendship Association, Nagano Prefecture who were keen on human resource exchange especially in the farm sector, the Indian Embassy further updated. Jun Matsumoto, former Member of Parliament from Nagano, Masaki Yoshida and Kenichi Kawani interacted with the Nagaland delegation while officials from Nomura Securities also participated in this meeting and expressed their interest to work in the state.

The chief minister and his team also stated to have met with representatives of Sasakawa Peace Foundation led by Dr Nobuko Kayashima, Executive Director, and her colleagues who discussed on ongoing collaboration with Nagaland and the future prospects of promoting exchanges between students and young leaders.

Meanwhile, following a fruitful meeting with officials from Kochi Prefecture and Ministry of Forests and Fisheries where discussions centred on fostering cooperation and exploring shared opportunities in the field of human resources were made, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for future cooperation.

“Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio and his delegation met with Mr. Masayoshi Hamajima, Chairman and Founder of ARMS Incorporation at Embassy of India, Tokyo. They discussed the ongoing bilateral cooperation and explored avenues for furthering collaboration in the field of human resources and sports,” the Embassy added.
