CM Rio visits Pherima, assures public of positive response from govt

Pherima: Local contractor voluntarily clears obstacles, damaged vehicles at landslide site

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio visited the landslide affected area that occurred on 3rd September 2024 at Pherima along National Highway-29 tragically claimed 6 lives and damaged many properties.

During his visit the Chief Minister inspected all the areas damaged by the landslide. Later Rio interacted with the public of Pherima and assured them of a positive response from the Government. He then interacted with the concerned officials of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and directed to arrange at least one lane of the National Highway-29 operational in a short time for emergency transporting of various essential commodities.

Taking to X platform after his visit, CM Rio said that he took stock of the current situation and informed that he had reiterated to the concerned authority to expedite restoration of regular vehicular movement. “The Govt. will ensure that inconvenience to citizens is minimized & normalcy restored at the earliest,” he added.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima, Polan John.

Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department, Zhaleo Rio also conducted on-site inspection on the landslide affected area at Pherima and Kukidolong. He further interacted with the public of the affected areas and heard their grievances and also advised the public to submit their damages inflicted by the landslide with photo proof before the authority.

Earlier, Rokolhu Angami, Contractor and Proprietor of Nagaamii Infra.con. Pvt. Ltd., voluntarily cleared the obstacles and damaged vehicles at National Highway 29, Pherima Village.
