With less than three weeks to go for the elections to the urban local bodies (ULBs) in the State which will be conducted with 33% reservation for women for the first time, the Central Nagaland Women Association (CNWA) and Lotha Eloe Hoho held a consultative meeting with the female intending candidates. In the meeting held at the Lotha Eloe Hoho Wokha Office, the women discussed and exchanged ideas to empower female candidates for the upcoming ULB elections was conducted.
CNWA President K Atoli Sema highlighted on the importance of conducting campaigns independently while advocating for transparent and ethical electoral practices. She also urged candidates to refrain from establishing youth camps.
Sema extended her well-wishes to the candidates from both reserved and general wards, underlining the significance of mutual empowerment and support among women. Stressing the values of integrity and honesty, she underscored the need for women to set a positive precedent in electoral history.
Thungbeni Ngullie, President of Lotha Eloe Hoho, urged the women to make use of the electoral platform as a way for women’s empowerment. Addressing concerns surrounding reserved wards, she urged female candidates to assert their independence in decision-making processes.
