Coffee Board of India and Ete Coffee Shop holds collaborative training program

A collaborative training program between the Coffee Board of India and Ete Coffee Shop took place at Ete Coffee’s headquarters on Billy Graham Road on June 18.

Jayanta Ghosh, Deputy Director of the Coffee Board of India, praised Ete Coffee for its achievements, including winning numerous awards and becoming a prominent brand for Naga coffee. He highlighted that the growth and development of the coffee industry in Nagaland would not have been possible without the support of the Land Resource Department. Ghosh emphasized Nagaland’s role as a leading example in promoting coffee, noting that neighboring states are now showing increased interest in coffee cultivation following Nagaland’s success.

Albert Ngullie, Director of Land Resources, expressed that coffee is becoming a popular trend in Nagaland. He emphasized that two businesses guaranteed to thrive in Nagaland are meat and coffee. Ngullie highlighted the significant potential and growth prospects for coffee in Nagaland.

He acknowledged the vast opportunities available and reassured that the department is dedicated to supporting young entrepreneurs interested in the coffee business and elevating Nagaland’s coffee industry. Ngullie mentioned their readiness to collaborate with entrepreneurs and assist in expanding coffee businesses. He encouraged youths to take the training seriously and evaluate the potential for promoting coffee in the region.

Lichan Humtsoe, CEO Ete coffee in his opening remarks stated that Ete coffee school aims to empower individuals with comprehensive coffee education, equipping them with the kids to excel in the global coffee industry. He added that their vision at Ete coffee school is to cultivate proficiency and professionalism on the coffee industry and aim to empower individuals to become experts and ambassadors of Indian coffee on the global stage.

Their diverse and compressive training program includes: Greens, Roasting, Sensory Skills, Brewing, Barista Skills, latte art, café concept and operations, export and import.

“Eté Coffee School stands at the forefront of coffee education in Northeast India, driven by a vision to elevate the region’s coffee industry to international heights. And with a comprehensive curriculum, dedicated training facilities, and a commitment to empowering local communities, we are creating a new generation of coffee professionals who will lead India into a prominent position on the global coffee map,” said Humtsoe.  He highlighted that through their efforts, they aim to make Indian coffee synonymous not just with quality beans, but with skilled, knowledgeable, and passionate individuals who are the true essence of the coffee experience.

The program was earlier chaired by Khrietuo Kenneth.
