Class of 2007, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, on Friday vehemently condemned the brutal killing of their friend and batchmate Late Imkongjeba Kichu.
In a statement, the Class of 2007 said that they were “profoundly troubled, shocked, and outraged by this heart-wrenchingly barbaric and inhumane act that happened on the 22nd of February 2023.”
An engineer by profession with a law degree, Late Imkongjeba Kichu’s cold-blooded killing has deprived the Naga society of a leader and a champion working fervently towards equal rights and opportunities for our people, the statement added.

The batchmates of the deceased also said that Late Kichu possessed innate leadership qualities and had a promising bright future ahead.
His vital role with the Chungtia Students Union as Vice President (2016), President (2017-2018), Executive Member (2018 till the time of his demise), and with the Sabangya Compound Lanur Telongjem as Vice President (2021), and President (2022), stands as a testament to his prowess, the statement added.
The graduating class of 2007, Kohima Science College also vouched that late Kichu was a fine gentleman, humble and upright, kind-hearted and honest. They remembered their friend ‘Achi’ as a fun-loving person who could instantly connect with anyone and was admired by all who knew him.
The batchmates appealed to the authorities “to ensure prompt, independent, impartial, and effective investigation”.
“Such acts of cowardice have no place in our society,” they stated while condemning those who choose violence, fear or exclusion over peace and dialogue.
The Class of 2007 also offered its “most sincere and deepest condolences” to the bereaved family and loved ones.
