The Commissioner’s office organized a grand farewell programme for the outgoing Commissioner Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor, IAS on 31 October at the Commissioner’s Office, Kohima.
Rovilatuo thanked God for sustaining him through thick and thin during his 38 years and 2 months long career in the Public Service. Mor also thanked the Government of Nagaland for allowing him to serve the people in various capacities and to key postings.
He expressed a feeling of satisfaction in resolving many pending issues, some of which dated back to British times while in the chair as Commissioner Nagaland.
The outgoing Commissioner of Nagaland while sharing his experiences recollected many dire situations that he had encountered during his illustrious years in public service but said that those situations had brought him closer to the people and different communities at large.
While appreciating and thanking the officers and staff in different places and departments he had worked with, Mor said every officer has to take up the challenges and serve the public efficiently and in sincerity while enjoying the given opportunity and being a role model in bringing changes in the society through one’s best efforts.
He also said that the best years in service are during the junior stage and encouraged the upcoming young officers to grab the best opportunity to give maximum contribution.
Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam, who was also part of the programme, acknowledged the works and duties performed by the retiring officer, under whose guidance many far-reaching decisions and solutions have been made and solved.
The Chief Secretary said that Rovilatuo Mor was a man with clarity of mind and a man who possess the degree and quality meant for the job.
The Home Commissioner, Nagaland, and incoming Commissioner of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha remarked that the outgoing Commissioner had a magnificent career with glorious achievements and said the officer has left a tough legacy for the successor to follow suit.
Nagaland DGP, T John Longkumer described the retiring officer as a messenger of peace and tagged him as a pillar of hope, a man of calmness, rationality, and clarity of thoughts.
Earlier Joint Commissioner (Hq), L Jamithung Lotha said that the retiring officer was mild but daring and resolute in his decisions and was also a guide, friend and leader to many. He also acknowledged the retiring officer, under whose guidance so many developments and achievements were accomplished.
Officers and dignitaries who also spoke during the program were Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C IAS; Commandant Village Guards, Mongkoyanchu Chang; President, Nagaland Dobashis Association; President, Nagaland GBs Federation.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (HQ) Polan John. A slide presentation of glimpses of the career of the outgoing officer was presented by CAWD while a special song was presented by UBC Male Voice and Kekhrie Thepa.
A speech on behalf of the staff was given by the Registrar, Yanremo Mozhui and invoking of God’s blessing was done by Associate Pastor UBC, Visato Yhoshu.
