Veteran politician and former Minister of Nagaland T. A Ngullie passed away on October 27 in Chümoukedima.

Condoling the bereaved family, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a condolence message, stated that he  had the privilege to work alongside Ngullie, when first elected in 1989 to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. “I remember him to be a real gentleman, who loved and treated everyone equally. He was a visionary and an ardent politician, who was one of the members of the first Nagaland Legislative Assembly,” said Rio.

Regarding Ngullie as an approachable leader, the Chief Minister noted that the veteran politician was always willing to reach out to the people, especially those from the marginalised sections of the society.

“His contributions towards the growth of Nagaland and its people will always be remembered by everyone. In his demise, the Lotha community, in particular, and the Nagas in general have lost a fatherly figure and a guardian. The emptiness created by his departure will be difficult to fill. Though it pains us that he is no longer with us, let us cherish the good memories he has left behind, and thank God for the person he was. It is my humble prayer that his good legacy will continue,” mentioned the Chief Minister.

Rio conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for comfort and courage to bear the irreparable loss.

Had the privilege to serve with him in NLA. A humble soul, with a purpose & desire to serve the people of the State. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” said Zeliang.

“During his long political career he held many important portfolios of which the financial minister was one. He was respected and admired by his peers transcending beyond political / Party  lines. Late T.A Ngullie without a doubt is one of the most observant, attentive and a knowledgeable leader I have met. One of his greatness is that, he was a good listener. He was by nature a compassionate and humble leader. Humble because he knew where he come from and would not allow power to distance himself from his people he represents. His story is a leader, a life well lived,” stated Odyuo.

“As this darkness descends upon late T.A Ngullie’s loves and dear ones, may the comforter, our Lord grant peace, comfort and strength to his family and everyone who is mourning for the loss of one of the pioneer of naga political leader,” added Odyuo.
