Congress President to address public rally at Supermarket, Dimapur on Tuesday

Kohima: Congress accuses NDPP-BJP of preparing for booth capturing in 12 Assembly Constituencies including Kohima Town

All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge will address a public rally tomorrow at Supermarket, Dimapur at 12 noon, Girish Chodankar, AICC incharge of Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim and Tripura announced this today at a press conference, held at congress Bhavan, Kohima.

Chodankar said the entire Congress organization has been gearing up since yesterday and appealed to the people of Nagaland who wants to bring change at Delhi and have a voice in the Parliament to participate in the rally and elect the Congress candidate for Nagaland, S Supongmeren Jamir.

The Congress leader exuded confidence that the INDIA bloc will form the Government in Delhi and declared that if the Congress candidate from Nagaland is elected that he will be given cabinet berth.

Taking a dig at BJP, Chodankar said BJP have created fear and insecurity for the minorities and there is also anger among the people in Nagaland due to BJP policies.

“This election is about the future of India. This election will decide the future and fate of the country,” he added.

Mentioning that Congress candidate will win the Nagaland seat, Chodankar alleged that NDPP-BJP have already strategise for booth capturing in certain constituencies.

“We are apprehending the booth capturing because the ruling Government is frustrated because their own reports suggest that INDIA alliance candidate is winning. They are trying to do and use all illegal means to win the election,” said Chodankar.

He said as per reports, NDPP-BJP have already started preparing for booth capturing on the Polling Day under the constituencies of Dimapur-I, Dimapur-II, Dimapur-III, Ghaspani-I, Ghaspani-II, 9 Kohima Town, Northern Angami-II, 19 Phek, 20 Meluri, 37 Tyui, 38 Wokha and 29 Janpetkong, Assembly segments.

He said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the people of Nagaland should do everything to prevent the booth capturing.

Slamming BJP National President JP Nadda’s public rally in Chümoukedima, Chodankar said Nadda’s visit to the State has confirmed that the state govt is in hand in gloves with BJP. “People of Nagaland will have to decide whether they will support a party where they have attacked the minorities,” he added.

Further, he appealed to the people of Nagaland to make a wise decision while casting their vote on 19 April 2024.
