Stakeholders at today’s Consultative Meeting extended the appeal to the Naga political workers to fix their differences, reach an understanding and try to make a single document and single approach to the Government of India so that there is no room for confusion or any unwanted manoeuvrings.
This was informed by Minister of Power & Parliamentary Affairs and Spokesperson of Government of Nagaland, KG Kenye at a press conference at the Secretariat. The consultative meeting was the first that was held after the constitution of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC).
Minister Kenye informed that the stakeholders in today’s meeting expressed concerns on the stalemate in the process of talks between Naga political groups (NPGs) and the Government of India. He mentioned that there was strong feeling that the talks must pick up again and the House wished for the Government of India to come out seriously and the talks be elevated to the level of at least a senior union minister. The House also expressed that a proper interlocutor should be appointed again as it used to be, the Minister said.
Kenye mentioned that the stakeholders opined that initiatives should be made to pursue an end to the protracted political talks which if unresolved will take heavy toll on both sides.
He said that the House also resolved to collaborate and continue to put in their best efforts to see that Indo-Naga talks are held earnestly and that proper conclusion is drawn.
Kenye informed that today’s meeting marks the beginning of discussions and hoped to see more consultative sessions to find solutions. He added that many solutions were proposed during today’s meeting and that the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will study and analyse them and hold another meeting. They will make a collective decision after some discussions and will either call for another meeting or meet with party workers, he added.
