Police personnel designated as election officials for Koridang bye-election
For the upcoming bye-election to the 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency, a notification was issued by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, on all officers of the Nagaland Police from Director General level to officers in the field, including Home Guards and Village Guards will function as election officials for the duration of the election process.
The designation has been made under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The arrangement will remain in effect from the date of notification until the completion of the bye-election.
During this period, all police personnel involved in election-related duties will be deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission and will function under its control, supervision, and discipline. They will also be held accountable to the Commission for any actions or lapses in the course of performing their election responsibilities.

The notification stressed the Commission’s emphasis on ensuring a smooth and impartial conduct of the bye-election in the constituency.
