A meeting in connection with the observation of the Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October 2024, was held at ADC, Medziphema on 10th September 2024.
At the meeting, the members deliberated at length on the activities to be undertaken from 14th September – 2nd October 2024. During the period various cleanliness drives and the following activities will be undertaken:
- Launching of SHS 2024 and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) center
- Door to Door Campaign
- Cleaning of CTU’s
- Flower Plantation at NH-29 Division
- Flash mob / human chain
- Waste hunt
- Cricket exhibition match MTC vs Chamber of Commerce
- Garbage Art and Sculpture competition for school students
- Ward-wise cleanliness drive. Cleaning of public toilets
- Walkathon, Cyclathon, and Marathon and plays
- Wheel Forward Club to organise bike rally
In this regard ADC Medziphema, P. James Swu requested all citizens of Medziphema Town to actively participate in the forthcoming activities and also to submit any other creative initiatives and submit to Kelengenvo Zumu, Sanitation Councillor MTC or any other town councillor.
The Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Government of India, has declared “Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS)” a fortnight long cleaning drive as a prelude to Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October 2024 under the theme Cleanliness of Nature / Cleanliness of Culture.
