The Cornerstone College, Dimapur celebrates its 8th freshers meet under the theme “Venturing into new possibilities” at IMC Hall, Fellowship Colony, Dimapur on Friday.
The event was graced by Nginyeih Konyak, Chairperson of Nagaland State Women Commission as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion Konyak, briefed the gathering about Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC), a Commission solely for women empowerment, while also sharing her life experiences and journey.
“College is not only about training and education, it is about building one’s personality, attitude and character,” stated Konyak. Addressing the alarming drug addiction in the State, Konyak advised the students that they should know what is right and what is wrong at their age, especially while going through emotional, stress and anxiety.
“This becomes one factor on why youths take alcohol to calm down oneself but that’s not the right way. Every choice we make affects some aspect of our lives,” said Konyak appealing the students not to become victim of drugs, theft and alcohol.
Konyak further urged the students to get away from all the unwanted vices before it destroys one’s life, future and career.

Merentola and Sungemtemsu were adjudged as Miss Fresher and Mr Fresher 2023 Cornerstone College. Nana Pamei, Face of Nagaland 2023, who was the judge for the event, presented the awards to the winners.
The program was chaired by Sentikala, Asst. Professor, Department of Education while the welcome note was delivered by Toinali Chishi, Women Coordinator, Cornerstone College Student Council. The program was followed by various entertainment, cultural activities and Tales from Nagaland was presented by the English Department.
