The 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has announced that it will not participate in any State Government functions, including the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, as part of its ongoing agitation over unresolved issues to which the State Government has “remained unresponsive.”

In a statement, CoRRP expressed appreciation to the apex tribal bodies of the Angami Public Organization, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho, and Sumi Hoho for upholding the joint resolutions adopted on August 9. It commended their coordinated circular to all frontal organizations and sub-units, directing non-participation in State functions.

The Committee appealed to the public, especially youth and students, to unite and voice their resentment through this peaceful non-participation, calling it an exercise of their democratic rights.

CoRRP also urged the State Government to refrain from “coercing or intimidating” leaders of civil society organizations (CSOs) or the public through the use of government agencies, warning that such actions could lead to “untoward situations.”
