Chakhesang Public Organisation has accused the Naga Mothers’ Association of attempting ‘to dilute and destroy’ the customary laws and traditions of the Nagas and of sowing ‘a permanent and unhealthy wedge of suspicion and mistrust’ between the genders in the society.
Days after Angami Public Organisation advised the Government of Nagaland to avoid dealing with Naga Mothers’ Association, CPO has also appealed the same.
CPO stated that the NMA is an un-mandated organisation that the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association had disassociated itself from NMA since 2017 and does not represent ‘the welfare and interest of our sons and daughters.’
CPO asserted that it is the ‘only mandated organization’ that has the moral right to speak on behalf of the Chakhesang people and that the organisation should be consulted for any discussion and deliberations for change or modification on any issue to do with its people, their customs and traditions, beliefs, and their land and its resources should be done.
