Chakhesang Public Organisation in collaboration with the department of Tourism celebrated Tsükhenyie festival at Pfutseromi village in Phek district on Monday with Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along as special guest, DIPR stated.
Imna Along, in his speech, thanked CPO and Pfutseromi village and said that Chakhesang people are known for their hospitality, honesty, and for being hard-working. He said the festival is a time to celebrate and called upon the gathering to learn about the culture and take back the sweet memories to their respective places and states.
Phek area, Along said, has a high potential for tourism where biodiversity is preserved with rich cultures. “May the people of Chakhesang prosper, grow and develop with the rest of the Nagas,” he added.
Wepretso Mero, NCS (Rtd) highlighted the brief history of Tsükhenyie mentioning that the festival marks the successful harvest year. During the festival, the people rejoice and rejuvenate and also pray for a successful year ahead.

A greeting message was given by Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Phek. The programme was chaired by Medozü Mero and Wenyi Kapfo invoked God’s blessings.
Tshüpelo Medo blew a trumpet which signifies the onset of the festival, Veziihu Keyho President of CPO released Tsükhenyie ballons, a folk tune was presented by the Chakhesang Cultural Organisation.
Ngulo Lomi, the senior-most citizen (106yrs) Pfutseromi village, gave the traditional blessings.
Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA was chief host while MLA and leader of the NPF Party Kuzholuzo Nienu was the cultural guest and Keducho Khamo, Advisor CAWD & Taxes was the guest of honour. MLA Kevipodi Sophie, and many Government officials and public leaders were also present.
Later the chief guest along with a host of MLAs and government officials visited the stall set up by various departments and villagers.
