Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and School Counselling in collaboration with Sazolie College, Don Bosco School and Mental Health Mentor observed Mental Health Day along with the world under the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” at Old NST Kohima on 10th October 2023.
Kezhazolie Mere, Co-founder of Carl Rogers Institute emphasising on the importance of mental health said that the illness is one of the leading causes of suicide which is becoming a regular occurrence. He urged the people to be expressive, to normalise talking about mental health openly without any hesitations, to reach out to the right person and to seek help and get helped as mental health is just as important as our physical health

Mere stated that mental health is a common health conditions that is experienced by all the people irrespective of the age, colours and backgrounds. He urged the people to shatter the stigma by seeking help from the psychologist and other professionals and to break the chain of silence by speaking about it.
“You can heal, you can become a better person” he added.
Further, he called all the people to be vocal about mental health issues and said “Mental health doesn’t discriminate”, it comes to all adding “We are born with an authentic self but we slowly develop ideal self” which comes with fear, sadness, anxiety, stress, depression and many other emotions that is responsible for our mental health. Mere also urged the people to encourage and support the affected people by identifying the signs and symptoms of mental health issues.
