“We will continue to demand what is ours,” asserted the Combined Technical Association Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF), today, affirming its demand to revoke the 17 December 2024 order of regularising 147 contractual posts under the Higher Education Department.
During a press conference held at the Kohima Press Club’s office, the organisations updated on the discussions held with the Minister of Higher Education where he had provided verbal assurance to revoke the order. The organisations had also demanded for the dissolution of the April 21 Committee. With no positive outcome till date, the organisations affirmed that it will resume agitation on April 29.
“We have reasonable apprehension on the government that it is strategized to buy the government to cover its illegal acts. We are of the impression that this is a modus operandi/excuse of the government to deviate the matter to a different dimension without confronting it directly,” they stated.
Asserting that it will not accept piece meal solution, the organisations also highlighted how the government is using varied tactics to silence, distort and discredit the protest.
Appeal to concerned organisations and public
In pursuit of its demand for revocation of the 17 December 2024 order, the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum stated that it will continue with the ongoing protest. Therefore, it has appealed to all concerned organizations and the public to join in the fight against corruption at the Department of Higher Education. “Despite the four-day peaceful protest and assurance from the concern minister to revoke the order and dissolve the committee, there has been no positive action from the Government in revoking the said orders. Therefore the protest will continue until the demands are met,” stated the organisations in a press release issued this evening.
